The world doesn’t need new shoes. It needs a new system. VivoBiome’s North Star is 3D printed footwear that’s made to order, in small on-shore factories, with a fully bespoke fit. And, once the footwear’s no longer needed, they must be fully circular; either being recycled into a new pair or compostable and returned to nature.

This pioneering footwear is made with BioCir®flex: a bio-based, recyclable, industrially compostable thermoplastic. It’s durable, flexible, scalable for mass production, and biodegradable in industrial composting facilities. The first prototypes are here and we’ll start thorough on-foot testing in early 2024.

REVOLUTIONS NEED PIONEERS
Our vision is for a scan-to-print circular bare-footwear system. But we’re not there yet. The product our Pioneers are testing is a prototype of the Biome Hybrid - a combination of 3D printed sole and 3D knitted upper and comes in two data-driven width fittings per shoe size. Each Pioneer’s perfect size and width has been determined by two 3D foot scans.
Pioneers are playing a crucial role in helping us realise our vision, moving us from three data-driven width fittings per size to a fully bespoke fit, from offshore manufacturing to locally made and from testing end of life solutions to full circularity.
