Small steps shoe auction
The most expensive Vivos so far and all for a good cause
Around 15 million people live on rubbish dumps globally, many of them are children.
This year we’re teaming up with Small Steps Project to set up a locally-run shoe-making workshop in Masaka, Uganda, using local materials.
Small Steps already run projects around the world providing shoes and safety equipment to adults working on the dumps, as well as helping their children get an education and chance at a better future.
Starting in 2020, we will be helping set up a small workshop next to a dump outside Masaka, Uganda providing jobs, a decent, affordable product and a new way to recycle a small part of a vast mountain of waste.
This project is about participating in creating the infrastructure for people living on these dumps to build their viable shoe business. It’s not a hand-out, but a collaboration and social enterprise we’re very excited about.
Small Steps Project has just completed their annual #CelebrityShoeAuction to fundraise for their projects around the world. 100% of the profits raised go to supporting children who work and live on
rubbish dumps fuelled by our global throwaway culture. VIVOBAREFOOT have donated shoeboxes and several celebrities donated their own signed Vivos to help make their event entirely zero waste. Benedict Cumberbatch white Primus Lux was auctioned for £3,200!
