A Revolutionary Movement

September 25th 2012 by Galahad Clark

There’s a change coming: a paradigm shift in conventional thinking.  It’s a growing movement of fresh ideas and shared values based on natural evolution, mutation and adaptation.  It’s a better way of doing things- a better way of moving, a better way of living.

At VIVOBAREFOOT we draw from the past, the current and the future.  Barefoot movement is our shared heritage; it’s a blueprint for health prototyped over tens of thousands of years.  We respect the natural so use intelligent, sustainable design to produce a complete range of shoes that allow you to bring the sensation of the natural into everyday, modern life.  It’s ancient wisdom combined with modern technology.

We hold to our beliefs that barefoot is the gold standard. As we launch our new range, we want to bring you closer to nature to fuel adventures, play, sharing and learning. And as the industry moves to dilute and produce more “commercial” interpretations that dumb down our senses, we call on you to champion the true movement: pure barefoot 24/7.

My favourite barefoot shoe was the first I bought and still use and it was the Avalon in fog. It seems to be the least complicated construction and allows maximum proprioception. I could only improve it by having an elasticated front instead of laces. I wear them without the insole. I’ ve had many pairs of Vivo Barefoots since but don’t like any as well. Also so many have seams across the big toe and big toe joint and rubbing there can cause lasting discomfort.

Customer of nymag “you walk wrong” vintage here – thanks for your commitment to amazing shoes that feel and look wonderful. I own more than a few pair of your shoes (even an original Soul of Africa pair) and wear them more than anything else, but there are two slices of footwear that I would be thrilled if you could tackle:
1 – the no-sock canvas shoe slip on where Toms and others sit. I wear these all summer long and would love a Vivo take on it.
2 – the flip flop. The Achilles is too far out there for me, but I could live in the vivo flip flops that I have in my head.
3 – bonus! the sport sandal. I used to wear Chacos all the time, but the footbed killed me. A neo sport sole with straps would be awesome.

I’ve thought a lot about shoes and footwear and would be happy to expound on any of the above if it could be helpful. All the best.
