RECONNECT TO RESTORE

COP 26 decided Earth’s fate. The climate action it inspired will determine future human and planetary health. And Vivo was one of the few British brands chosen to be at the heart of it.

We shone a bright light on how economics and human health shape planetary health. And we argued that the only sustainable path to healthy people and a healthy planet is to reconnect with nature and work regeneratively - to give back more than we take.

We also shared our vision for the future of footwear: VIVOBIOME.

VIVOBIOME: CHANGING THE SYSTEM, FEET FIRST

Humans have never been less connected to nature.

This includes the shoe industry, which makes 22 billion shoes every year, churned out through harmful supply chains. Most end up in landfill, often without being used much.

VIVIOBIOME reimagines this system. It imagines footwear made locally, for individual people instead of mass markets, by local shoemakers using amazing technologies like 3D scanning, generative design, 3D printing and new natural materials.

VIVOBIOME imagines barefoot footwear with a bigger personality but a smaller footprint. Good for people, good for the planet.

WORKING WITH NATURE FOR NATURE

VIVOBIOME means using nature’s wisdom to solve modern problems by finding regenerative materials to work with.

This is why we’re partnering with eco impact lab Innovation 4.4 on the 2022 Oceans Prize, which will find, fund and help develop a nature-based material that can be 3D printed.

On World Oceans Day 2023, the winner will get $100,000 USD and the chance to partner with us to scale their solution.
