Reviews

Awesome for winter!

Bought these for a recent trip to northern Finland. They are great! Waterproof and insulated, kept my feet warm and dry in the snow. They have more substance than a lot of barefoot shoes, but it’s great for winter.

Minimal yet sturdy boot

Thrilled to find a minimal boot that is sturdy yet room to move. The ankle height is snug with 'new'ness after 10 hikes but can notice it starting to wear in just right so that it isn't restrictive. Plenty of toe space even with thick wool socks. Was looking for a waterproof hiking boot that would meet definition of minimal shoe and this did the trick.

totally satisfied

I bought these as my second pair of barefoot shoes, my first being some sandals. As the summer season ended and I ended up wearing boots more, I realized my feet/back/legs were hurting a lot more and deduced it might be from the combat boots. Bought these as an alternative to those AND my hiking boots (2fer), because in the all-black I think they look sleek enough to be worn around the city. Haven't tested them thoroughly as hiking boots, in terms of support/grip/traction. But have worn them almost every day since they arrived and am feeling none of the pain from my other shoes.

Sizing was a little tough -- I initially ordered the 9 which is what the size finder recommended, but ultimately returned those for the 8 which I kept. I was swimming in the 9s, but could use a little more room in the toe box for the 8. half size or maybe even a wide option would have been great here. I don't have super wide feet, but I am so over squishing my toes. The good thing is I can already feel the leather loosening up a little in the right foot where I was feeling the tightness across my toes. I'm glad I went with the 8, because my heels were coming out of the 9 and honestly they looked a little clown-shoe-y to me and I don't know that I would have been as happy to treat them as my every day shoes at that size. But in the 8 they are indeed my every day shoes. I wear them to the office, and then go lift in them too. And the thermal insoles really do work -- my feet are never cold, and are sometimes a little too warm, and this is December in NYC!
