REVIVING ANCIENT CRAFTSMANSHIP
In collaboration with the Ju|’hoansi people of Namibia, and in support of their community, this project aims to revive their ancient shoe-making skill. The result is the San-Dal, handstitched and made from Eland skin, the largest antelope in Southern Africa. Barefoot as it was thousands of years ago.
A tough but flexible, concave, hexagonal sole, designed to go from the city to the country on wet, cold and muddy surfaces through the winter months.
Patented, ultra-thin, puncture resistant layer. 5x more puncture resistant than a standard sole of the same thickness.
Naturally tanned using vegetable matter, the oldest way of tanning leather.
