World of Barefoot

VIVOBAREFOOT are the official partners for ÖTILLÖ Swimrun. The race consists of a 75km course, between 26 islands, over land and sea, with pairs of competitors connected by a 10m cord. Swimrun was born on the Archipelago islands in Sweden, after Mats Anderson and his old buddy made a drunken bet, and raced from one end of the islands to the other. Today, ÖTILLÖ Swimrun consists of a series of international events, culminating in the world championship final back in Sweden, where it all began.

We’ve partnered up with Otillo because we share the belief that getting out of our urban habitat, and back in our natural one, not only feels amazing, but is fundamental to our health. Human beings are the most successful species on earth, not because we’re the fastest runners or the best swimmers, but because we are naturally incredible all-rounders. Whether on dry land or in aquatic environments, our ability to adapt allows us to thrive in our natural environment. Your feet are amazing bits of kit, perfect for standing, walking and running, just as mother nature intended when she designed them, millions of years go…that’s why VIVOBAREFOOT make shoes that let your feet do their natural thing.

Designed for people with amphibious tendencies, this shoe is built to go the distances over land and sea.

“Put simply, the Otillo swim run race is raw human locomotion, over land and sea. Making a shoe that is good for Swimrun and natural movement is about making as little shoe as possible. That’s something we’ve been doing for a long time.” Asher Clark, Design Director, Vivobarefoot

We have created a new shoe, made specifically for Swimrun events. VIVOBAREFOOT designed, developed and tested the Primus Swimrun in partnership with the founders at ÖTILLÖ Swimrun. It has a quick-draining mesh for minimal water weight and low-profile lugs for off road traction.
