The Ababa makes you feel your roots. The hand-stitched sole design is inspired by the world’s oldest human footprint. Discover wildness in the city and beyond with wide, ultra-thin soles allowing the sensory richness and barefoot movement of our ancestors. Crafted by a indigenous inspired ethos, the vegan Ababa features cotton with canvas printed by Akaso, working with Ethiopian Kara painters.
The natural slip-on, handmade in Ethiopia with an authentic Akaso print.

- Beautiful shoe, bad fit!I love this shoe, and wanted it to fit, but it just felt too short when I tried it on in the house. I even wore them around the house off and on, to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Finally, realized the way to figure it out was to take one of my other pairs of Vivobarefoot shoes and hold them up to each other, and this one was definitely shorter, even though the size was the same on both, 38, so I had to send them back. I'm sorry, I wish they had fit.

I've been wearing the Ababa Canvas Dots for about a week now. My work days, as an art teacher, have me on my feet, nonstop all day. After 8 hours my feet don't ache, my toes aren't crunched and my lower back feels better!
I'm going to be ordering another pair for hiking and long walks.

- Bold style-cool projectA friend sent me the link to these shoes as she knows I have a love of African cultures and designs.
I love that there is an option to have a wide foot bed! I returned my pair as they were a half size too large. I usually wear an 8. I think the 7 1/2 would work for me.
I enjoyed the painting on these shoes but realize its too bold for my everyday.
I'll be watching for the other painted style to come back in my size.
Overall I think this is great concept and will definitely be sharing with friends.Posted on
- Ah-mazingWhere do I start? The project behind the shoes? The design? The comfort? The feel? I love everything about these shoes, they are my definite to-go, no matter the occasion, with or without socks. Bonus point: for people who drive a lot, the rubber sole going up the heel makes for a perfect driving shoe. I wear US9, bought these in US9/EU40, they fit perfectly. If they had other designs in my size, I would've bought more.

- Great product, but too smallLoved the look and feel of these shoes, however they’re a bit smaller than I expected. Have to get a size larger. I’ve got MULTIPLE pairs of vivos and I LOVE them all, there just isn’t necessarily consistency in the sizing. I have been and will be a returning customer. - In Love!!I admit I wasn't too sure how I'd like these shoes. The design is a bit wild! But I love them!!! They are just whimsical enough for spring. I've gotten so many compliments. And they fit perfect! So comfy that I forget that I'm wearing shoes. Plenty of space for my toes to spread out! Well done!

- Great comfort shoeI bought the canvas Ababa for my wife. She says she gets some weird looks because of the unusual black with white dots. She calls them her clown shoes. But she wears them a lot because they are so comfortable.

- A little too duckyLike all Vivos, these shoes are obviously very well made, and fit similarly to other shoes of their size. I decided to return them, though, because the top profile is even wider than normal Vivos-- I think it's because the stitching is external rather than internal, because they're handmade. I really wanted to like them, but they just didn't feel worth $95 when they looked so... ducky.

- Ababa CanvasVery comfortable shoe. The only drawback is the back of the heel takes a little while to break in, so wearing these shoes for a long period of time without socks will give me blisters on my heel.

- Love these! I broke my ankle and have been unable to walk in regular shoes post surgery. I have a life again! they are comfortable, no smell when worn bare foot, and they don't get hot!

- Fun a comfortableThis shoe is so comfortable, I always feel good when barefoot and these shoes are just like being barefooted. the canvas soles are painted in fun polka dots making them great for casual dress. This is my 4th pare of Sole of Africa. Great for people with knee problems, my knee is 100% improved since I started wearing them.

- Ababa Canvas DotsI normally wear 8.5/39 in my shoe size.
I ordered a size 8 and was worried it would be too small. The shoe is perfect, and there is enough room in the toe box for my foot to be comfortable. I am still learning the sensation of feeling a connection to the surface I am walking on. I am surprised when I step on a small stone or the edge of a concrete surface as I now have a direct relationship with that surface. I have neuropathy, and feel more sure footed with the shoe.
