No good for high instep

I loved these shoes but could not keep as they are difficult to put on/ wear if you have a high instep.

wonderful but challenging

What an adventure it has been trying these shoes. After poorly done right foot surgery many years ago, (partly improved by an artificlal toe joint which is still pretty rigid and painful) I finally found that I could walk and even run in Vibram fivefingers (have lots of pairs for different uses) - however these became a problem on rougher ground as they were just too thin and in the end I developed a neuroma so had yet more pain in my foot. These vivobarefoot shoes seemed like the next best option to try and I was right. They give me the same sense of confidence on the ground (to compound my foot issues I have a badly torn ligament in my left ankle. This means wearing only very soft and thin soled shoes because if I twist outwards in a normal rigid sole I can't stop my foot snapping right over causing weeks of being off my foot) and I love my toes spreading unhindered in the lovely wide toe box. They also provide much more protection from rough stones than my fivefingers (I have put in some slightly thicker insoles as my over sensitive skin didn't like the holey feel of the vivo ones) I think these size 5 are a bit big as I am normally a size 4 but in fact I've got used to having the extra room and don't trip over my toes very often. On the downside they are really hard to get on, no easier after more than six weeks and they first of all skinned my left heel and my left big toe joint. I still have to wear a plaster on the toe joint but the heel is now comfortable. The main problem is that the top edge of the cuff is really tight and leaves a bruise after a long walk. This has become the only negative after all these weeks and I am loathe to give up these wonderfully comfortable shoes which I find myself wearing every day for long dog walks and everyday wear - my only option now will be to cut the cuff to make them less tight - but that seems a bit extreme for an expensive shoe. I am worried that it might mean the structure of the shoe is compromised and I will have wasted what is on the whole a wonderful shoe. I really recommend persevering with these shoes and am very grateful for the 100 day trial - just not quite sure what to do next!

Not for me!

I ordered these shoes because I love Vivo and i wanted a new pair of minimalistic shoes, but this particular design is not for me : my ankle is quite wide, and the fully integrated sock was bothering me on the front of my foot, so i had to send them back. I ordered another style from the same collection (Primus trail FG) and they are just perfect.
