I was considering learning to make my own shoes for hunting but now I see Vivo has made exactly what I envisioned. These would be PERFECT hunting shoes, where folks need a light weight, close to the ground shoe like a moccasin, but with rubber soles, ankle protection and water proofing. The big, thick, heavy hunting boots are ridiculous, and make it impossible to move quietly and efficiently in the woods. Please consider making them with a wider toe box. My feet are too wide for these, and its especially important to have plenty of room in the toes to promote good circulation. The slightest restriction results in clammy, frozen feet on the deer stand. With a wide toe box I'd love to get a pair.
The best boots I have ever owned and have served me well over this winter. I have worn them in, before writing a review. As a policeman I use these boots for work mainly so have really put them through there paces on all sorts of terrain and weather and are still going strong. These boots suited the width of my feet luckily but I see what matt said in his review and agree these may not suit people with wider feet.
I’ve just been wearing these in the snow and ice. Firstly the traction is amazing and the only time I encountered some slipping was on sheet ice, which is to be expected. I thought the thin soles would let through the cold, but this was barely perceptible even with the inner-sole removed. The best part of the experience for me was the way the flexible sole moulds to the lumps and bumps of the snow and ice, so you get to feel the undulations and to feel the snow compress and change shape under your weight. Awesome.
I've been wearing these boots for a few months and they are insanely comfortable. I don't want to take them off when I get home. There is a trick to lacing them so that the toes and lower foot are not laced too tightly, nor the top of the ankle. What is did was to make sure all the tension was in the laces at the ankle joint so the heel is pushed back into the boot. This is achieved by loosely lacing the toe and mid foot area and putting a knot in each side of the lace just before the 3rd "eye" so that you cannot pull the lace any tighter. Then once you have the correct tension on the ankle joint, put a further two knots in each side of the lace, so that you can just clip the lace into the lower pair of quick release eyes and the knots hold the lace in place. I then finish it off by clipping the place into the upper pair of quick release eyes and tie a bow, This method, I have found, allows for rapid fastening with just the right fit and plenty of give in the toe and mid-foot area to allow the foot to flex and spread.
Thanks for a great shoe!
Nice boot. Way to narrow thoug, and smaller in size than other Vivos. Seem like Vivo falled into the fashion over function when designing the shape. Really to bad.
