Been wearing this shoe now for about 6 weeks building up slow on the trails it is comfortable I have no problems. It feels natural. I think I will be purchase another VIVO for every day use. Love the shoe..
I am in love with these shoes! I am not a big runner because I always felt that running hurt my knees. Now I am starting off slow (in the winter) with these. I have been running on icy, snowy dirt roads and the traction on these are amazing. I never write reviews of products, but I love these so much that I think everyone should get a pair. A size 38 fit my 7 - 7.5 feet perfectly, no break in period, and I truly feel protected and barefoot. Even though I go out in 20 degree weather my feet stay warm with the thinnest of socks (for the sweat factor). I can't wait to take them on the trails in the spring. I actually also just purchased some neos so I can run on pavement, and wear them to work. Thank you so much for making these amazing products!
I purchased the Neo Trail in a search to find a minimalist shoe to get me through the winter when my VFFs wouldn't cut it. I tried 3 other brands before I learned about the VIVO brand. This shoe won for several reasons:
-True minimalist feel - this was the only shoe that felt truly wide enough in the toebox to allow natural flex and splay of my toes
- Materials seemed to be able to stand up to tough Chicago winters - hydrophobic upper sounded perfect for our weather and the tread is amazing
- Lightweight construction
So far, I have worn these on at least a half dozen runs totaling around 25 miles. They kept my feet dry through mud, snow, slush and rain. The tread makes me feel confident on snowy areas. The laces are very rugged and do not come untied - even when wet. I am a double-knotter generally, but these will stay put if you forget.
Only a few negatives - and they would not prevent me from buying another pair:
- The hydrophobic mesh truly does keep the weather out - but it also traps your heat in. My feet are not wet from the elements when I am through, but they are wet with sweat. At least they are warm. :)
- As another reviewer mentioned, the tread is deep and will collect half of the trail. Make sure you shake your shoes off outside otherwise you WILL have a huge pile of dirt, snow, etc. wherever you put your shoes
I have several pairs of VIVOBAREFOOT shoes and this style is definitely my favorite. Really does what it claims as I’ve found it to be a very effective trail running and hiking shoe even through sticky or slick mudd, loose gravel and just generally uneven terrain. The amount of ground feel is surprising with the relatively thick lugs and the shoe definitely has a lot of flex. The ladies 37 fit true to size and there was no break-in period.
I walk my dog through the woods and it can get pretty muddy/wet and I don’t feel I have to tiptoe to avoid puddles, when we get back to the house I just give a quick dry to my dog and leave the shoes to dry! My complaints are that the traction is a mess in tracking mud into my house and the shoes run small that it took me 2 returns to get the proper size. I am normally a 7.5 and had to take the size 9.
