VIVOBAREFOOT BC

Christmas is the time when the Sun goes to it’s lowest point in the year. In these few days around the Winter Solstice some used to say the Sun dies and a few days later around December 25th the sun rises again as the days start brightening. Read More

Tracker Review: Why it works for me

Until Something Wild Trail Running Festival I’ll confess I knew very little about VIVOBAREFOOT – however here I was lucky enough to win a pair of their shoes, and after some deliberation, I chose the Tracker hiking boot for women. Read More

The Stealth: Why it works for me

The Stealth: Why it works for me

A couple of years ago, I started to make changes in my lifestyle to improve my health. Whilst researching ways I could improve my diet, my sleep habits, my stress levels and my fitness, I came across a lot of information about barefooting. Everything I read clicked with me, despite being the opposite of what I had been told all my life. Adverts telling me shoes should ‘feel like walking on air’ and ‘provide the arch support your feet need’ suddenly looked ridiculous. Read More

Video Review: Aqua II

November 26, 2015 by Christian Payne, Documentally

After many days and miles wearing these shoes here is a little review.

The original design for the Vivobarefoot Aqua came around in 2006. Then came the Aqua Lite's in 2011. After an online campaign from Vivobarefoot fans the Aqua II's were released this year.

Disclaimer: Although I have been a fan of (and have bought) barefoot shoes for the last few years, these were sent to me free of charge. This in no way influenced my opinion. A pair of shoes is little compensation for the work that goes into making a video.

Interestingly I probably would not have bought this style of shoe. It looked too 'smart casual' for my liking and I began my review expecting to dislike them. After 54 days of continuous wear I am totally sold on them. Read More

Barefoot Lifestyle: Why it worked for me

Barefoot Lifestyle: Why it worked for me

Five years ago I was managing a retail store that sold a popular brand of running shoes. I wore the arch support for heel pain and the thick-soled, heavy running shoe with "gel" cushion for extra shock absorbency. My back would fall asleep while working, and by the time I got home I'd have to lay on the floor with my legs up the wall. My feet normally felt tender or bruised. I slept in plantar fasciitis splints, and I sold the heck out of all that stuff. It's not that it didn't help momentarily, but if I wasn't wearing all of those things I was usually in pain. The new Aqua: Why decluttering makes sense

November 10, 2015 by John Metcalf

The new Aqua: Why decluttering makes sense

For a few years now I have be on a journey of decluttering. My garage was the obvious place to start; it had become a kit depository for the different sports and training that I did. The issue was not the variety of activities per se, it was more that the equipment, clothing and footwear for each of them had become so specialised there was little room for crossover. This proved to not only be expensive and a waste of resources, but it also required an entire garage to store it all in. As an example, I had three large Rhino tubs full of sport-specific footwear.  Read More

The Gobi Hi Top: Why it Works for Me

The Gobi Hi Top: Why it Works for Me

When I moved to Cornwall, from London, seven years ago, my wardrobe didn’t fit. I’m a photographer, but also a fashion writer, which meant that historically the impractical nature of the clothing I would wear on a day to day basis was regularly overlooked. All that changed when I started documenting surfing, and clambering over the rocks in the blustery wind and pouring rain became physically impossible (not to mention dangerous) in six inch platform heels.
