I own 2 pairs of these shoes - one brown and one black. I absolutely love the feel/look of the shoes. I have transitioned over to minimalist/barefoot running and these are great shoes with great feel. I am a doctor, so I needed shoes that look professional - something like the VFF obviously weren't going to work. These look like any other stylish dress shoe and are really comfortable.
My main complaint about the shoes is a big one. The seams tend to rip out really quickly/easily. This is probably due to the incredible flexibility of the shoes. You can't roll up a normal pair of shoes into a ball. Unfortunately the seams end up coming loose at the level of your MTP joints (where the toes connect to the foot). First the glue comes undone, then the stitching breaks, then the stitching unravels, and finally the sole falls off. I tried having the shoes professionally repaired (re-stitched and glued), but it failed after about 1 month. Also, I don't think this is an isolated problem since it has happened in both pairs of my shoes in both feet within 6-9 months of regular use. For an expensive shoe, I expect them to last longer than that.
In summary, I love the look/feel of the shoes, but I'm not sure I'd buy them again if they continue to wear out so quickly.
I've had a pair of these as "weekend/casual" shoes for over two years and am ready to buy another. One request though. I work in a fairly conservative work environment. While I love proselytizing for the vivo barefoot shoes of all sorts, the tan soles generally make the shoes look a bit like slippers. PLEASE reissue the brown dharmas with the black soles like the black dharmas have. That was I can sneak these into the office on days other than Fridays.
My 6th pair - need I say more - I love these!!!
wonderful shoes. so easy to slip on and off and so stylish.
only complaints:
sole isn't very grippy at all, so much so that my feet have been prone to sliding off of my bike pedals while pedalling normally (i've adjusted by either pigeon-toeing my feet on the pedals or by using toe cages)
after about a year of almost daily use, the seam running the length of the upper in front started to split at the toe
which may have been caused by the shoes being slightly too small for my feet. I usually wear size 13, so that's what I ordered (that was also the largest size offered at the time), but it was definitely not like other size 13s I have worn. I don't know if this is still true, but perhaps their sizes run small, and you should order a size up (I did this when I bought my second pair, which where Lesothos, and they were the right size. Perhaps my feet have gotten longer since I've stopped contorting them with arch supports!
Wonderful shoe. I am thinking of buying a new pair (a size 14 this time!)
