I bought these when they first came out. The plastic honeycomb mesh isn't soft enough and cracked after only a few months of light use of running 10-15 miles a week. They replaced them for free and the second ones took a bit longer to have the same tearing issues. The shoes are a great idea, but wear out to quickly for the price. I expected these to last much longer than cushioned running shoes., but they do not.

I fell in love with vivobarefoot after trying on these shoes at a trade show. I didn't want to take them off... Not for days. I slowly transitioned my running to these shoes and was too eager and excited and pushed it too hard. Entirely my fault, not the shoes, and my feet are just getting back to 100% after several weeks. So my advice... Very slowly transition and get coaching if you can, and/or follow the videos and read up.

I had 37 years of running in padded shoes to unwind from. Like the other person who reviewed here, I had the same experience... I can run longer, quicker, with less energy with these shoes once I fully transitioned. Amazing. I kind of feel robbed by all of the other shoe manufacturers all these years!?! What have they done to my back, and legs and health, who knows...?

Excited to get a more casual pair of VB shoes on my feel for day to day wear.

3 pairs and counting.... Two thumbs up.

  • Evo I ***BEWARE***

Review by Scott Rasmussen | 30th September 2011

Bought the shoe online after reading several reviews, loved how the shoe felt, but developed serious blisters on the tops of my toes and forefoot, I then gave them to my son who had the same problem. I had read online that this is known issue and folks had been successful returning them to Terra Plana. However when I tried to return them to Terra Plana I was told they would not do anything. I have purchased a pair of the Evo II and they are awesome! So don't buy this shoe unless you like blisters and don't need $140 for anything else!

  • My favorite shoe

Review by David Flannery | 30th August 2011

At first I was skeptical about the whole barefoot running thing. I started running in high school where the coaches for cross country would constantly harp on getting padded shoes to make sure we didn't get shin splints or get injured. Running heel to toe was the 'proper' way to run and running on your toes was only for the sprinters, not the long distance people.

Are you kidding? Every since running on the balls of my feet, my stride feels more natural, I am faster, and am using less energy to run. At first it takes some getting use to, but after about 3 weeks, these shoes become part of your foot and the possibilities are endless.

The bottoms are extremely resilient and the outside of the shoe is constructed in a way to allow for the foot to breathe. All in all, by the end of the run/day, your feet are thanking you for making the switch to this shoe.

Oh, did I mention I climbed Mt. Fuji with this shoe and had no problems with it? I think hiking the highest point in Japan and feeling great at the end of the day proves that this shoe goes the distance.
