Reaching new peaks in South Africa

There’s a revolution happening in South Africa, a VIVOBAREFOOT revolution!
With barefoot running reshaping the modern running industry, our South African team is pushing the boundaries and putting VIVOBAREFOOT on the map: barefoot running workshops, sponsored trail events and a VIVOBAREFOOT Team are just the beginning.
Officially launched April 20th 2012, VIVOBAREFOOT hit the ground running with a series of barefoot running workshops held at The River Club in Cape Town. Certified VIVOBAREFOOT Coach, Dale Turrell, had a VIP evening, which was attended by a number of top athletes and local running dignitaries. The 4 scheduled workshops were a huge success with the numbers exceeding the allocated amounts.
Following the successful opening week, Dale was asked to implement a series of workshops for the Virgin Active Group. The workshops have received rave reviews and Dale aka "The Coach" is already in high demand for further workshops!
The next step VIVOBAREFOOT ZA made was sponsoring the inaugural Constantia Valley Trail (CVT) race held on Sunday 29th April in the beautiful Winelands Valley in Cape Town.
The race allowed entrants the chance to run through all of the main vineyards most of which are not accessible on any other day. The main race was a short 21km run with some steep hill climbs and fast descents. Native Sport/ Team VIVOBAREFOOT provided an on-course hydration station sponsored with product by Rehidrat Sport. Branded running tops, caps and buffs were also supplied as prizes.
Greg Goodall (VIVOBAREFOOT Team captain) in his Breatho Trails, won the race with a time of 1h23. He set an early blistering pace in the wet and windy conditions and on the second climb he split the leading bunch with a powerful surge...the Breatho Trail providing the grip and response! He was pushed hard but by the 17km mark he had already hurt the leaders and ended the race in first position.

Greg, new to VIVOBAREFOOT, but not new to winning races, is a multi-talented athlete - equally good in the water and on land. He has represented South Africa at the World Triathlon Championships. We’re super excited to have him on Team VIVOBAREFOOT and we’re very excited about the future with him at the helm.

One event to look forward to in the future is the Otter African Trail Run, held on 13th October 2012 in Tsitsikamma National Park. As a Podium finisher at the 2011 event we’re excited to see Greg take it to the next level with VIVOBAREFOOT at this year’s “Grail of the Trail”.
We’ll be taking a strong team to the Otter with Greg Goodall, Charl Brandon Souma, Stuart Hutcheson and Michelle Du Plessis.
Look out for VIVOBAREFOOT in South Africa, there’s lots of great things to come…
