Presenting the Ultimate Jungle Ultra Marathon

December 18, 2012 by Jamie Page

VIVOBAREFOOT is very happy to announce we are supporting and sponsoring next year's The Ultimate Jungle Ultra Marathon – a race from The Andes to the Amazon.
The first 10 people to sign up for the race before 28th February will WIN a pair of VIVOBAREFOOT shoes to race in!*
More about the race…starting on the 24th May 2013 the 230km race will make it's way through tough jungle trails, mountain roads and village tracks leading down from 10500ft in the Cloud Forest to Amazon Jungle below.

Not only will we be providing some of the prizes for the winners, we will also be supplying all the support staff, marshals and medics with VIVOBAREFOOT shoes. This is a touch race but our tough barefoot trail shoes are definitely up to the challenge.
It's called the Ulimate Jungle Ultra Marathon for a reason: for the race itself you will be self-sufficient carrying your own hammock, sleeping bag, food, and supplies for the entire race, replenishing your (minimum) 2.5 litres of water along the way at check points and base camps. As you are in the jungle you will face humidity levels reaching near 100%, making sweating useless in maintaining your core body temperature, leaving you saturated for extended periods of the race, and indeed when you finally reach camp.
"There is no jungle in world like that of Peru, with its virgin forests, diverse wildlife and numerous tribes still living there even to this day, you will experience all of this and more."Beyond the Ultimate
